Partnerships that make a difference
“It’s the partnerships that make me happy,” said Soraya, our regional manager in Katherine. As she’s cooking sausages for a community breakfast, Soraya talks about the tight-knit service provider community in Katherine and why that means a lot to her.
“The photo (below) we took of service providers in Ryan Park in Katherine demonstrates exactly what I’m talking about. We work together, we talk and we share resources and ideas. Needs in Katherine and surrounding areas are significant at times, so it makes absolute sense to work together and share the load,” said Soraya.
A close working relationship exists between Anglicare NT and The Salvation Army in Katherine. Both organisations offer emergency relief and support, and youth services. Youth outreach worker Keely Ah Chin from The Salvation Army said it makes her work more effective when resources are pooled. “We offer similar services, and if we work together we can cover more ground,” said Keely.
To acknowledge R U OK? Day, over 100 people came from the community to share a hot breakfast and a yarn with service providers and friends. It was a great opportunity for Anglicare NT (thanks for getting up early team!) to reconnect with other service providers and discuss how we can streamline service delivery and support the most vulnerable people in Katherine.
