Dr David Mitchell

Dr David Michell joined the Anglicare NT board in February 2026. David is the Chief Psychiatrist of the Northern Territory, and is passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of all Territorians through advocacy, education and leadership. His medical career has been predominantly in rural and remote Australia, including in the Top End, Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait.

David is engaged in research and teaching – he is a professor at Charles Darwin University and an associate professor at Flinders University. He serves on the board of a number of non government organisations where he endeavours to develop contemporary mental health care services and practices.
