New regional plan sets direction for Central Australia

Following the launch of the Big Rivers Regional Plan, Anglicare NT is pleased to announce the release of the Central Australian Regional Plan 2026-30. The plan was launched on 1 July at Anglicare NT’s Housing and Homelessness Services site on Bloomfield Street in Alice Springs. Staff, residents and community stakeholders gathered to mark the occasion and celebrate the shared vision for the region.

The Central Australian Regional Plan is the result of extensive consultations with community stakeholders and staff from the region. These consultations helped build a understanding of the community’s strengths and priorities, while identifying Anglicare NT’s key goals and actions for the region.

The main goals identified are:

  • Supporting young people to thrive
  • Improving responses to domestic, family and sexual violence
  • Improving data collection and service delivery for children and families in Central Australia

We look forward to working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and other community stakeholders to achieve these goals.

The launch was attended by staff, transitional housing residents and stakeholders including Alice Springs Mayor Asta Hill and staff from the Mental Health Association of Central Australia.

A highlight of the event was the display of two artworks commissioned for the regional plan. Created by Elders and young people from Akeyulerre Aboriginal Corporation Healing Services, the artworks reflect the many strengths of Central Australian communities and are now on display at our Alice Springs office.
