National recognition for our services
Two of our standout services were honoured on the national stage this week at the Anglicare Australia National Awards, which celebrate the vital contributions of Anglicare agencies to the wellbeing of individuals and communities across the country. Awards were presented in the categories of Excellence, Innovation, Partnership and Volunteer Achievement.
We’re proud to announce that our Prison Chaplaincy Service received the Excellence Award. This service offers holistic spiritual and pastoral care to people in custody in Darwin and Alice Springs. Delivered in partnership with the Northern Territory Council of Churches and under formal agreements with the Department of Corrections, the program is deeply rooted in values of dignity, inclusion and cultural respect. The service has responded to hundreds of requests for pastoral support to people of all faiths, and prisoners participate in regular Christian services, Buddhist gatherings and Islamic prayer groups.
In the Partnerships category, our Communities for Children initiative in Central Australia was named runner-up. This initiative provides flexible, place-based funding that empowers local organisations to design culturally safe and sustainable programs. Key partners include Children’s Ground and the NPY Women’s Council, who deliver impactful programs in early learning, wellbeing and nutrition.
Congratulations to both teams and their collaborating partners – both individuals and organisations – for their incredible work and well-deserved recognition!
