Katherine team active against gender based violence
Our Katherine team dressed in orange last Saturday Dec 6 and joined the local Hot Springs parkrun to speak up about gender based violence.
Soraya, our regional manager in Katherine came up with the idea of teaming up runners and activists. “I said ‘what about an orange parkrun?’ Orange is the colour for the 16 Days of Activism, and we were looking for ways to speak out against domestic and family violence.”
Parkrun organisers in Katherine jumped on board and soon so did the rest of the NT! On December 6, all NT parkrunners were encouraged to wear orange while running to highlight the issue of violence towards women and girls . Yep, the orange park run idea was sown in Katherine! “Goes to show one small idea and a few passionate people can make something amazing happen” said Soraya.
