Krafty Kapers Knitting Group (Darwin, Palmerston and Rural)
Krafty Kapers was launched in 2001 by a committed band of Anglicare NT volunteers.
The group started up in response to a call from the Community Visitors Scheme for knitted and crocheted scarfs, beanies, mittens, bed-socks, bed-jackets and knee rugs for distribution to residents of Aged Care Facilities across the NT.
The Krafty Kapers group donated wool, their time and their care to many thankful senior citizens, every Dry Season and indeed, all year round. It really does get cold in the NT!
Residents of Nursing Homes in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs all receive annual deliveries of beautiful, hand-crafted “winter woollies”, delivered by CVS staff and Volunteers.
The Anglicare NT Donated Goods Program assists Krafty Kapers with donations of wool, in turn donated to our Op-Shops by members of the Darwin community.
Without the support of Krafty Kapers, Anglicare NT and the elders of our communities would certainly be the poorer.
