Garma Youth Forum 2008

50 young people dance together at the bunggul ground at the Garma festival to say thank you to elders for allowing the youth forum to be conducted at Gulkula, NT and to honour the 'walking together' of Yolngu and Ngapiki young people.

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

FDR provides separating couples with a non-adversarial process for reaching agreements on how much time their children spend with each parent and how to divide their property equitably. The process can include the children’s views in an age-appropriate way.

  • Target group is separating or separated families and their children
  • Process is confidential, except for matters of mandatory notification (eg: child abuse)
  • FDR from practitioners registered with the federal Attorney-General’s department
  • FDR negotiations lead to written agreements for parenting and/or property – often including input from consultations with children
  • Sliding scale fee schedule applies based on gross income, although lower or no fees can be negotiated where appropriate
