The Community Visitors Scheme aims to enrich the lives of socially and/or culturally isolated residents in aged care homes. This is achieved by matching residents one to one with a volunteer Visitor who commits to visiting a minimum of once a fortnight. Referrals are predominantly made by staff in the Aged Care Facilities, but can also come from friends, family or other agencies.
The CVS is a national program, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing, and auspiced by Anglicare NT in the Northern Territory. Volunteers are located in the Darwin region, Katherine and Central Australia.
